There are various entry level jobs in the Manufacturing sector. Sector experts note that today these jobs are much more complex than they were in the past.

A job seeker is expected to have the equivalent of a secondary school diploma in Ontario and several months of on-the-job training.

Many of the jobs in the manufacturing industry are highly technical and providing proof of trades certification and/or a journey person ticket to demonstrate proficiency may be required. Very often companies test plant workers for software knowledge.

Manufacturing companies may invite prospective employees to information sessions, where initial screening takes place, and then tour them around the plant to ensure a clear understanding of the jobs available.
