Middle level engineering jobs, such as technician and technologist, are not regulated in Ontario.

Employers look for people whose skills are highly specialised. For example, cost analysis engineers in the mining industry, an account with the experience in the retail industry or other similar expertise.

Employers prefer to hire certified professionals, such as certified engineering technologist (C.E.T.), applied science technologist (A.Sc.T.),  professional technologist (PTech)

Middle level legal professions such as paralegal are regulated in Ontario.

Paralegals must be licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada.
