Sector experts have identified new trends that have recently emerged in the Tourism and Hospitality Sector.

One of these is the rising number of persons with a disability. In Ontario, one in seven people have a disability and over the next 20 years that number will rise as the population ages.

As a result, a New Accessibility Standards Regulation has been introduced and it will affect Ontario restaurants and hotels. According to this legislation, by 2025 all hotels and restaurants must be completely accessible.

Accessible customer service is not only about ramps or automatic door openers. It’s about understanding that people with disabilities may have different needs and preferences.

As a result, hiring managers are looking for people who have knowledge and understanding of accessibility issues.
